Water Works Tour and Discussion with State CISO on The Governor's Executive Order and Cybersecurity Initiative

In March 2016 InfraGard Iowa toured the Des Moines water works plant to discuss critical infrastructure protection and immediately following hosted a discussion with State Deputy CIO, InfraGard past president, and chapter board member Jeff Franklin on the Governor�s Executive Order 87 for cyber security.

This initiative prioritizes cyber protection of the state�s critical infrastructure focusing on the 4 �Life Line Sectors� as identified by DHS of Water, Energy, Communications, and Transportation. He discussed ways for the state to better engage with the private sector to prepare together and respond together to the threats that impact these sectors through joint training and information sharing with our chapter�s closely related mission to develop our critical sector programs.

Eastern Iowa Security Conference

In March 2016 InfraGard Iowa President Andy Cutter participated in the 2016 Eastern Iowa Security Conference in Coralville Iowa.
A round-table discussion with security industry and U.S. government experts detailed the state of cybersecurity and how to protect your business from cyber criminals using threat intelligence. Participants included US Attorneys from the Department of Justice, The Chief Information Security Officer of the State of Iowa, and FBI Cyber and Special Agents who directed attendees to the InfraGard booth for more information on joining our membership ranks.

FBI Victim Specialist Presentation


In January 2016 FBI Victim Specialist Karen Gale who is a member of the FBI Victim Assistance Rapid Deployment Team presented on her recent support of the San Bernardino and Sandy Hook mass casualty events.

As a Victim Specialist, Karen works with federal victims of crime such as: bank robbery, human trafficking, child prostitution, financial institution/mortgage fraud, on-line sexual exploitation, kidnapping/murder cases, and mass casualty events. Karen discussed working closely with victims and their families in identifying and assisting with meeting their needs for: arranging counseling, registering with local crime victims compensation programs, returning of personal property left at the scene (cell phones, vehicles, purses), and family visitation and access (hospital, crime scene, memorial).


TSA Air Marshals Presentation

In October 2015 Assistant Federal Security Director John Simons of the TSA presented to InfraGard Iowa on Aviation Security from the TSA point of view at a private hanger at the Des Moines Airport.
